Happy Valentine's Day!

I can't believe we are celebrating Valentine's Day already.  The kids are so excited and can't wait to pass out their Valentines cards.  We also just recently celebrated our 100th day of school.  Come check out our hallway and see what we made.  I will post the pictures of our 100th day celebration for everyone to view.  We spent time in 1st grade on the 100th day so they are in the pictures with Kindergarten.  Today we practiced acting out and retelling the story of the "Ugly Duckling."  Ask your child what we did and what was their part in the play.  We also quickly performed it for 2nd grade and they all got a kick out of that.  Hope everyone has a great three day weekend.

Five Senses

This week in Kindergarten we have been discussing our Five Senses.  We went on both a listening walk and a sight seeing walk.  Those little ears and eyes are very active.  Ask a Kindergartner to tell you all the things they saw and heard.  We also had an activity where we were blindfolded and had to touch and smell a variety of things. Trust me that was FUN!  Next week we are going to taste several salty, sour and sweet things and see if they can tell the difference.  One item we will taste is an apple, which brings me to our topic for next week-APPLES.  Each student needs to bring an apple for school on Monday, preferably not sliced we are going to do that together.  I have a whole week of activities planned with apples.  I'll try to take some pictures of our activities and put them here for you to view!  Have a great weekend.

  •  Remember Apples are needed Monday, September 28th for school.
  • School pictures Wednesday, September 30th.-Please send those picture packets back if you are ordering.
  • Mark your calendar for our Fire Safety Field Trip: Friday, October 9th.

Thank you to all who attended open house, it was great to see everyone again.  I sent home a newsletter yesterday September 3 so please check backpacks for those and I will also post it on our website as well.  Remember there is a book order so don't forget to send it back by September 11, if you are wanting to order something.  This week the Kindergarten students have been working hard.  We are working on writing our names using both upper case and lower case letters.  We have also been discussing living and non-living things in Science.  Our Guardian Angel was also a topic of discussion and next week we will are planning on drawing a picture of what they think their Guardian Angel looks like.  I finally was able to hang our birthday chart so ask your child where they voted it should be hung.  The final decision was to hang it on the ceiling so that during rest they could read it if they wanted to. Hanging it on the ceiling proved to be quite a task.  I was finally able to get it up and it looks great, I just hope it holds!  Hope everyone enjoys the weekend and gets plenty of rest, I know I'm planning on catching up on lost sleep!  See you all next week.
