This year in Kindergarten we spent time talking about authors and illustrators. As a final writing assignment, we worked in small groups to write and illustrate our own stories. First, each student had to come up with two or three story ideas. They then had to work as a group to decide on an idea. We then wrote the story together. After the story was written each student was assigned a page that they had to illustrate. Students then used time in computer class to type and illustrate their page. They revisited many computer skills learned throughout the school year while working on this project. Students used the program Write Reader to import their sentences and pictures. The stories were very creative and funny. I hope you enjoy reading them. Here are the links to the stories. Enjoy!
I LOVED watching the students learn about plants in our school garden! They did a great job harvesting green beans. Thank you to our families that purchased them! It was a wonderful lesson in stewardship for the children. First, we cared for the gifts that God has given us in creation. Then we donated some of the money we earned to help others. Enjoy the pictures below, many of which were taken by Kindergarteners. :)
Here are some pictures from our Shade Structures science experiment where they were trying to keep their ice monsters from melting. We also had a great Respect Life Week, including a wonderful trip to visit the residents of Wheatlands.
It has been a joy to watch the children so excited about working in our school garden planting seeds and picking green beans! I will add another slideshow of our garden adventures soon!
