Not only did we celebrate the fun of Halloween on Oct. 31st, but we also celebrated the 50th Day of School with the Kindergarten class. We are 50 days smarter in First Grade! YAY!

SWYK = Show What You Know
Show What You Know for reading and spelling will be on Tuesday, 9/12/17. Our last assessment was learning how to log on, get to the assignment, take the test, go back and check our answers, find out how many we missed and which ones they were. This assessment is online.
Show What You Know for math will be on Tuesday, 9/12/17 as well. This first math assessment will be over counting. This assessment will be on paper.
On this day before school starts, I thought I would share a little poem. Believe me, it will be difficult for Mrs. Hayes to sleep tonight as well.
Can't wait to see you all tomorrow. It's going to be a great day! :)
'Twas the Night Before School Started
'Twas the night before school started,
when all through the town,
The parents were cheering.
It was a riotous sound!
By eight, kids were washed
And tucked into bed...
When memories of homework
Filled them with dread.
New pencil, new folders, new notebooks, too!
New teacher, new friends...
Their anxiety grew!
The parents just giggled when
They learned of this fright
And shouted upstairs--
"Go to bed! It's a school night!"
First grade went to Sweet's Pumpkin Patch in Inman. When we came back, we used our pumpkins for math and science jobs. One of the jobs we did was comparing our pumpkins for size. :)
