St. Patrick Catholic School strives to meet the educational needs of our students whenever possible, embracing them as a child of God with unique gifts and challenges. An Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) can be set up to document the in-classroom accommodations of our students. USD 331 provides our school with a part-time Title teacher that works with students in small groups to give them additional support in Math and Reading. We have five paras that help with inclusion classroom support.
Through the South Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative, our students can have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) where they can qualify for Gifted Services, Speech Services, Physical Therapy Resources, or Occupational Therapy Services provided in our building or Special Education Services at Kingman Elementary for part of the school day.
If a child is suspected of having a disability there are a few different avenues to request an evaluation for special education.
- If a parent has concerns that their child has a disability they may request an evaluation of their child by contacting the school psychologist at 620-532-8632 or an assistant director at SCKSEC 620-672-7500. When a parent requests an evaluation for their child the school is expected to implement and provide documentation of general education interventions prior to, and/or concurrently with the special education evaluation process.
- Currently St. Patrick school has a Data Team that meets regularly to review data and individual student progress. After the team has considered General Education Interventions and has not seen adequate progress they may request an evaluation for special education services. A meeting with a member of the Data Team, the parent, and the school psychologist will be scheduled where the data will be reviewed and if an evaluation is needed a PWN-E will be provided to the parent to be signed.
